Welcome to Climb Greece

Climb Greece was created along with the new Greece Sport Climbing guidebook to provide Greece climbing updates and news. Through Climb Greece and Climb Kalymnos, our vision is to inform, inspire, and make Greece an even better climbing destination.

Climb Greece is still a work in progress. Regularly updated features will include an interactive route and crag database, a Greece climbing forum, and up-to-date reports about climbing developments. Our goal is to make information about climbing in Greece widely available and easy to understand. If you don't find what you are looking for on Climb Greece, please let us know. Your feedback is very important to us.

Happy climbing!

    Hey Todd,

By far your best place to search for partners is the forum on our other site, climbkalymnos.com. Here’s the link for the “searching for partner” topic:

    Best of luck!

    Hi Tom,

The info you have found, above, is very old (from the early ’90s). The place is fantastic, but any routes there are in need of emergency re-bolting. Bolts and hangers are very old, they are NOT stainless, and they can snap at any moment–so, basically, they are not suitable for climbing.

That said, just for your information we will email you the old topo so you get an idea of what was there.

    Cheers,
    Aris

    Hi Steve,
there is a note about Santorini in our guidebook.
However here you can find a full topo.
It is in Greek but easy to understand with the photo-topos.

    Hi Kiscien,

There are no sport routes in Corfu to the best of our knowledge.
Re: Deep Water Soloing, try the area around Paleokastritsa.

    Have fun,

    Hi Steve and Sonya,

The routes you found belong to a new sector which is still being developed by local climbers Kostas Tsoukleidis and Nadine Strobl. Some of the routes have likely not been climbed at all. I’m afraid there is no further information available until the sector is completed.

I hope this helps. Did you manage to locate sector Anatoli?

    Best,
    Katie

    Hi Steve,

There is an older post here on this site with directions to the crag; I am copy-pasting them below:

    ***
    Map coordinates: 37.549132, 22.815488

Approach: As you come into town from Leoforos Argous, keep slightly to the right and onto Kiprou St. As soon as you see the hill of Palamidi ahead of you, turn left onto 25 Martiou St following the sign to “Palamidi”. At the top of the uphill road, on the outskirts, do not turn right towards “Palamidi” but continue straight ahead, towards Karathona Beach. Drive downhill for about 1km and turn at the first road you meet on the right. Park 100m before the end of the road. The cliff is up to your right. The path is very good and marked in blue. Walking time: Less than 1 min.
    ***

If you have the “Greece” guidebook, check the location for sector “Karathona”. Sector “Anatoli” is on the opposite side; the two crags essentially face each other.

There is no climbing shop in Nafplio, unfortunately.

I hope this helps you find the crag!

You can also see the rest of the “Anatoli” post here:

    Hi Roel,

Halkidiki and Meteora would be your two climbing options.

    a) For Halkidiki, see an online topo (German/English) by the equippers here: http://hochtourengruppe.davbs.de/download/KletterfuehrerLoutra.pdf

    b) For Meteora, the best thing would be to climb the first pitches of some well-bolted easy routes (for example, “Isidora” at sector Doupiani): http://climbgreece.com/isidora/

The setting in both places is perfect for children (though Meteora is not close to the sea, but it is still quite beautiful).

    I hope this helps!
